Effect of CO2 Concentration in Injecting Gas on Minimum Miscibility Pressure: Compositional Model and Experimental Study
Authors
Abstract:
For technical and economic success of miscible gas injection projects, an accurate laboratory measurement of Minimum Miscibility Pressure (MMP) at reservoir conditions is essential. On the other hand, compositional reservoir simulator is a useful tool in gas injection studies and prediction of MMP. The main goal of this paper is to describe a procedure to generate a three phase sequential type of compositional reservoir simulator. The solution method is completely addressed. A compositional thermodynamic program for equilibrium calculation, and pseudo-component determination was developed. Another purpose of this study is to prepare an experimental setup for investigating the effect of CO2 concentration in injecting gas on oil recovery and MMP.Some displacement tests using slim tube apparatus were performed and recoveries and MMPs were measured. Finally, experimental results were compared with the model predictions. A good agreement was achieved between the experimental data and model predictions.

Miscible gas injection is one of the most effective enhanced oil recovery techniques and minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) is an important parameter in miscible gas injection processes. The accurate determination of this parameter is critical for an adequate design of injection equipment investment prospect. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new universal artificial neural network (U-A...

Carbon dioxide flooding is considered to be one of the most effective enhanced oil recovery methods for the light oil reservoirs. Depending on the operating pressure, the process might be miscible or immiscible. Minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) is the most important parameter for assessing the applicability of any miscible gas flood for an oil reservoir. The miscibility condition is determine...
full textAn Effective EOS Based Modeling Procedure for Minimum Miscibility Pressure in Miscible Gas Injection
The measurement of the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) is one of the most important steps in the project design of miscible gas injection for which several experimental and modeling methods have been proposed. On the other hand, the standard procedure for compositional studies of miscible gas injection process is the regression of EOS to the conventional PVT tests. Moreover, this procedure d...
full textDetermination of Minimum Miscibility Pressure by Analytical Method
The analytical theory of one dimensional, dispersion free miscible displacement of oil by injection gas with nc component has shown that: the MMP is the lowest pressure at which any one of the initial oil, injection gas or crossover key tie lines becomes critical, which means that its length approaches to zero. In this paper, we propose a method for a solving multi component syst...
